A-lign gives Kiwi homeowners peace of mind

Steve Gordon of Urban 1 Construction Auckland has turned leaky building nightmares into weather-tight, healthy homes with Jenkin A-lign weatherboards.
Leaky home owners come to Steve’s specialist recladding company with high expectations. “Obviously, they’re going through it for a second time. They’re very astute in what they look for in quality and the products they specify. They do their homework.”
Let down by inferior or poorly applied cladding materials, his customers are turning to Jenkin A-lign timber weatherboard for peace of mind.
Why Jenkin A-lign? “It’s a renewable resource. It’s a natural product and it’s still standing the test of time. People see quaint 100 year old churches in the countryside, old school buildings, 70 year old villas around Auckland clad in timber weather boards – they can see Jenkin A-lign as a durable product compared to what they have that is failing.”
Steve says “I’m impressed with A-lign’s 21st century approach to the Kiwi weatherboard tradition: It’s well designed plus the component nature saves not only time but also cost, and with the added benefit of the factory applied undercoat this saves the onsite application of a coat of paint which is brilliant during the wet months”.
“A-lign is a product that we can show our clients that is robust, very economical and that will save them money, and the quality’s there as well.”
He says houses clad in Jenkin A-lign, “not only look like they’ll be there for a long time, they will be.”
From time-saving pre-made scribers to sill flashings, the Jenkin A-lign system has many advantages. “We like the quality and consistency of the board and finish. There are no fingerjointing marks in it. Really long lengths up to seven metres can be supplied if requested – which is great, it cuts down the amount of joins you have, also saves us time.
“The paint stays more vibrant on a smooth surface than a textured surface and they’re easier to maintain. They’ve got a lot of pluses.”
Jenkin’s back-up service gives Steve added confidence in his choice. Staff are always on hand, “if we have a problem or we want to run something past them. They warrantee their board, which is important as well.”
