Jenkin A-lign a breeze to use in the windy city

Braden Cameron of Re Creations in Wellington is a big fan of timber weatherboard, and, with Jenkin’s A-lign, he’s found a versatile product ideally suited for use in our windiest of cities.
He recently used Jenkin A-lign on an exposed site in the high wind zone of Hayward’s Hill, Peter Jackson’s film location for the inhospitable Helm’s Deep in The Lord of the Rings.
“We had to write a producer’s statement to the council because it was a specific design. They wanted to find out whether the weatherboard would withstand that sort of environment, mainly the way to fix it.”
The team at Jenkin helped deliver a Hollywood happy ending. “The client went to Jenkin and talked to them about it. The support on that was good because it got processed quite quickly.”
Jenkin go to great lengths in more ways than one, Braden says. “The beauty with the A-lign: you get longer selected board lengths. We didn’t have to have joins along some of the key walls, that was one really big plus we found with it.”
Braden also praises Jenkin A-lign’s consistency of appearance. “When the paint goes on you’ve got a good finish on the front face of it. You’re not seeing excessive lines from fingerjointing and any sort of defects.”
With its ease of use, enduring good looks and proven performance, timber weatherboard is the first choice for many residential projects in the capital.
“Timber’s a proven product for durability. We’ve been using weatherboard for years. A lot of people – especially since a lot of these leaky home issues have been appearing – have been going back to more the traditional materials.
“We’re dealing with a lot of existing buildings. Even with a lot of the infill housing, if there’s a lot of weatherboard houses around, it’s a lot more pleasing to the eye to keep in with the existing character of the area.
“I like weatherboard myself, it appeals to me personally. It’s something you’ve got confidence in as a product.”
